Tredyffrin Easttown Music Parents Organization
The purpose of the TEMPO is to aid the Music Directors of all the secondary schools in the Tredyffrin Easttown School District in the development of quality music activities
A few examples of how TEMPO achieves this mission
Concession stand - TEMPO's primary fundraising activity is the concession stands at all home football games. Parents work together to manage the home and away concession stands with all revenue going to the organization.
Cavalcade (‘Stoga Showcase of Sound) - organize hundreds of volunteers for annual band competition hosted by CHS
Direct financial contributions - each year, TEMPO makes direct cash contributions toward music trips thereby offsetting each attending student's out of pocket cost
Events for middle schoolers - TEMPO sponsors several events throughout the school year that provide opportunities for middle school students to learn about exciting options at the high school level:
Treble and Bass Days - middle school chorus students spend the morning at CHS learning songs, enjoying a snack and lunch provided by TEMPO. The day culminates with a concert in the afternoon.
8th Grade Meet and Greet - eighth grade students interested in the music opportunities at CHS spend the morning at the high school and enjoy a snack and lunch provided by TEMPO
Tri-M reception - set up and donate refreshments to this annual event celebrating the music honor society
PMEA festivals - coordinate volunteers and meals for these festivals when held at CHS
Music banquet - host and subsidize ticket cost for this annual event celebrating music students
Leadership camp - cover the cost of sending drum majors to summer leadership camp
Special purchases - provide equipment, instruments, and supplies not covered by district funding
In 2025, TEMPO purchased a large flyover flag for the marching band
In 2026, TEMPO is purchasing a new trailer for the transportation of marching band equipment to away games and competitions
StogaMusic.com - pay for the CHS music department's website
Parent preview dinner - TEMPO provides dinner to marching band members and staff on Parent Preview Night during band camp (the evening band debuts the field show for the parents)
Scholarships and awards - Every spring, through an application and interview process, TEMPO provides graduating seniors the opportunity to earn scholarships and awards. Scholarships are for those planning to study music and awards are for those who intend to participate in music without majoring in a music field.
Fundraisers - create and oversee individual fundraisers to help students raise money to offset the cost of music trips (such as the upcoming trip to Disney, the trip to Broadway, etc.), events like the annual music banquet, and the $35/family annual TEMPO dues.
